AKADEMIKER FÖRKLÄDD TILL ARBETARE
Akademiker Bernd Krauss klär sig till Arbetare och arbetar som djurvårdare. “ACADEMIC DISGUISED AS A WORKER”
The study circle took place at Kolmården zoo. The idea of the study circle is based on learning without expertise according to the model “3x3x3”Rickard (the duty manager at the zoo) takes photographs and directs the artist and academic Bernd in doing the usual tasks as a zoo caretaker. The whole procedure is documented by me, the artist. We wish to re-create the format of the study circle and follow up on a discussion about worker identity and working conditions through this performative action.

During the time of the exhibition, A Sense of Solidarity – the Circle Repeats Itself at Arbetets Museum in 2011, various formats that were important for the labour movements’ educational activities were reproduced. Amongst these were “amateur activities”, study circles, which increasingly ceased to function in their original participatory form, adapting themselves to our present-day more and more individualistic society. The idea behind the study circle at Kolmården Zoo was based on education without expertise, in accordance with the method 3x3x3.
